Senator John McCain says he hoped immigration demonstrations around the country would give congressional leaders a sense of urgency to pass a proposed guest-worker program.

McCain told about 60 people at a town hall event in Little Rock that the status quo is no longer acceptable when it comes to the nation's immigration policy.
