John McCain today delivered this statement following the President’s veto of the Iraq spending bill:
“Today, with his veto, President Bush sent a clear message to our enemies - America will not surrender to al Qaeda in Iraq. My Congressional colleagues should set aside partisan politics and give General Petraeus and our men and women in battle the resources they need to win.”
Senator McCain has been steadfast in his support for the new strategy in Iraq. If you haven’t already done so, please sign the “Surrender is Not an Option” petition and encourage your friends and family to do so as well. We cannot surrender this fight against evil.

What’s going on here? I had assumed that Sanford was solidly in McCain’s [...]

Myself, Gary Matthew Miller, and syndicated columnist Barry Casselman all made the long trek to Des Moines yesterday for the Iowa GOP’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner. Every GOP hopeful was in attendance save for the undeclareds (Newt & FDT), the waylaid (Duncan Hunter had mechanical problems with his flight), and Ron Paul.
The “Big Three” [...]

Great report from David Yepsen, the dean of Iowa political reporters, in today’s editions of the Des Moines Register, on yesterday’s annual Iowa Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.
