McCain Wins Debate

November 28th, 2007 · No Comments

It’s clear that the other candidates give their opinion but on issue after issue John McCain speaks from experience. Only John McCain has the experience and background to step in on day one and be a strong commander in chief.

Al Qaeda’s Travel Agent

August 19th, 2007 · No Comments

Please take some time to read Sen. Joe Lieberman’s Op-Ed in today’s Wall Street Journal regarding one of the many facets of our struggle against radical Islamic extremism. While General Petraeus’s new strategy on the ground in Iraq is disrupting al Qaeda and showing signs of real progress in places that were once written off, the struggle against al Qaeda is not limited to Iraq. Senator Lieberman writes:

Recently declassified American intelligence reveals just how much al Qaeda in Iraq is dependent for its survival on the support it receives from the broader, global al Qaeda network, and how most of that support flows into Iraq through one country — Syria. Al Qaeda in Iraq is sustained by a transnational network of facilitators and human smugglers, who replenish its supply of suicide bombers — approximately 60 to 80 Islamist extremists, recruited every month from across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, and sent to meet their al Qaeda handlers in Syria, from where they are taken to Iraq to blow themselves up to kill countless others.

The Syrian government’s lack of effort (or downright complicity) to stop the inflow of foreign fighters demonstrates how the threat facing our country goes far beyond Iraq and how groups like al Qaeda are using Iraq to fight us, and they won’t stop there. If we abandon the battlefield to al Qaeda, they will proclaim victory to boost recruitment worldwide and use Iraq to spread chaos and carnage. American security would be severely damaged.

We must give General Petraeus’s strategy the time necessary to succeed. Iraq is a central front in our war on radical Islamic Extremism, we know it and after reading Sen. Lieberman’s Op-Ed and past al Qaeda statements, it is clear that the terrorists know it as well.

The American People Trust McCain on Issues of National Security

July 30th, 2007 · No Comments

The majority of Americans nationwide believe John McCain is the best candidate to lead the US in Iraq. When adults were asked to choose a candidate based on “how much confidence you have in each of the following to do or to recommend the right thing for the war in Iraq,” 55 percent say they have a great deal or a fair amount of confidence in McCain.

National Review Online has an article today summarizing a latest Gallup poll showing McCain has strong numbers when it comes to national security. Americans still recognize that he is the most qualified to lead the United States to victory against the extremist forces of radical Islam.

Please click here to show you support Senator McCain’s decision to stand up to Democrats who claim Iraq is a conflict we cannot win.

Integrity

July 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

Over at Real Clear Politics, Ralph Peter’s writes today about “John McCain’s Integrity Problem…he has too much of it.” Peters continues that America needs three things in our next president and commander-in-chief; three qualities which John McCain would embody as President: 1) “Strong, conscientious leadership”; 2) Honesty to tell you where they really stand; 3) “The ability to unify our nation after the election.” These are just three of the many valuable qualities John McCain would embody as president that are highlighted in Peters’ article.

John McCain has dedicated his life to serving our country, and it will truly be a shame if we can’t recognize the value he would bring to the presidency. Voters must realize the difference between a “parrot” candidate (”someone who merely tries to please the audience at the moment”) and a president. Right now John McCain is the only candidate who can be a president for he will not base his campaign around the talking points provided to him by his staffers:

Defeating Our Enemies

July 12th, 2007 · No Comments

John McCain is uniquely qualified to lead America and will deploy all instruments of national power to defeat al Qaeda, prevail in Iraq and defend our nation.

Senator McCain reaffirmed his commitment to success in Iraq during a policy speech today in New Hampshire. He recognizes al Qaeda’s commitment to win in Iraq and knows that “We cannot let them.” The Clinton-Pelosi-Reid wing of the Democratic Party has veered far to the left with their call for precipitous withdrawal while basically ignoring the al Qaeda presence in Iraq and the threat posed by allowing Iraq to turn into a terrorist training center. Senators Clinton and Byrd did not even mention the al Qaeda presence in Iraq or even the word “terrorist” in their recent op-ed piece. In the op-ed, they advocated a rapid retreat and ignored the terror-operatives who stoke sectarian strife and conduct the vast majority of suicide bombings in Iraq. These Democrats and many others fail to recognize that al Qaeda will not be content to defeat the US in Iraq. If the terrorists defeat us in Iraq, they will surely seek to hit us harder in Afghanistan “hoping to erode our political will” there as well.

Senator McCain will not accept defeat in Iraq. “Defeatism will not buy peace in our time. It will only lead to more bloodshed-and to more American casualties in the future.”

He is the only candidate with the experience and leadership to lead us to success in Iraq. He truly believes in the U.S. servicemen and their “skills, bravery, and dedication.”

Our Nation is at War

June 13th, 2007 · No Comments

What is it about being at war that the leading Democratic presidential candidates and Congressional leaders don’t understand?

Harry Reid:

  • Talks opening about the war being lost while our soldiers are still engaged on the battlefield. Talk about defeatism!
  • Talks openly about how war politics will help Democrats pick up seats next November…and we wonder why people are cynical about Washington politicians!
  • Attacks the commanding general, currently leading our troops on the battlefield. Is anyone else outraged?

Hillary Clinton:

  • Votes to authorize the war effort in Iraq but when the political winds start blowing a different direction, cuts, runs and votes against funding for our troops.
  • Not only does she vote against funding our troops in Iraq in Afghanistan, forces that are currently on the battlefield, she then turns around and stuffs the Defense Authorization Act full of $150 million in unwanted military projects that just happen to benefit defense contractors in her home state. Some priorities!

John Edwards:

  • Doesn’t even want to fight a war against terror!

And don’t even get me started on Nancy Pelosi, the House Leadership, and their priorities…

As a nation, we need to realize that come January 2009, this could be the thinking that occupies the Oval Office. Our nation is at war against an enemy dead-set on the destruction of our very way of life, against an enemy that has already stuck our homeland. John McCain is only leader with the experience, knowledge, and steadfast resolve to carry out the war against terror and radical Islamic fundamentalism. You may not agree with him all the time, but you will always know where he stands and that he’s prepared for this fundamental challenge.

McCain on The O’Reilly Factor, Part II

May 31st, 2007 · No Comments

The second half of John McCain’s interview on the O’Reilly Factor aired last night on Fox News. Some excerpts:

If it was not for the issue that we were just discussing, that 9/11 changed this country and the world and our challenge, I would not be running. I believe my whole life, my inspiration, my heroes, and my experience have qualified me to serve. I’m not the youngest candidate, but I’m the best prepared. I am committed to seeing this nation through one of the most difficult periods of our history, and like Ronald Reagan, I approach it with optimism, with hope and belief in the American people, in the future of this nation, and that our best days are ahead of us. (Fox News, “The O’Reilly Factor,” 5/31/07)

I think that most Americans appreciate the fact that this is a titanic struggle between everything we stand for and believe in and radical Islamic extremism. We have to win. We can win. We will win. We will never surrender. They will. (Fox News, “The O’Reilly Factor,” 5/31/07)

I will say that this strategy has only been going on for about four or five months. Neighborhoods in Baghdad, I emphasize, are safer, not safe, and there have been improvements. (Fox News, “The O’Reilly Factor,” 5/31/07)

Please watch the interview below:

No White Flag for Al Qaeda

May 24th, 2007 · No Comments

John McCain today reminded us all of the stakes of this election. Responding to Senator Clinton and Obama’s votes against emergency funding for our troops in harm’s way in Iraq and Afghanistan he said the following:

I was very disappointed to see Senator Obama and Senator Clinton embrace the policy of surrender by voting against funds to support our brave men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This vote may win favor with MoveOn and liberal primary voters, but it’s the equivalent of waving a white flag to al Qaeda.

There is no room for political grandstanding in fighting the war against terror; too bad the leading Democratic contenders don’t understand that.

Determination, Guts, and Leadership

May 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

We’ve talked a lot on this blog about the fact that John McCain is running for President of the United States not to be someone, but to do something - to lead. Leaders have to make the tough decisions, often in the face of difficult opposition. John McCain is not afraid of making the hard choices. Despite loud public opposition, he remains steadfast in his support of the new strategy in Iraq and in his belief that victory in Iraq is essential to future stability in the Middle East and a stronger national security at home.

On its editorial page, today’s Union Leader notes that John McCain is again putting principle ahead of politics in his push for stronger border security and a comprehensive immigration reform. Writes the Union Leader:

As with Iraq, McCain is taking an unpopular position because he believes there is no better option available — with the full knowledge that doing so could destroy his last chance to become President.

We disagree with the senator about the immigration bill. But we admire his determination to do what he believes is right even at great personal risk. McCain is gambling his political career on his belief that Americans want a leader, not a follower. So far, no other presidential candidate has had the guts to do the same.

In discussing his position on the Iraq war, John McCain has often said, “I’d rather lose a campaign than lose a war.” On immigration, he’d rather get something accomplished - namely securing our border, putting tough enforcement laws on the books, and building a guest worker program. Additionally, he recognizes that if we are going to address the national security concerns caused by our government’s past failures, we must find a way to bring the current illegal immigrants out of the shadows. This bill accomplishes those tasks.

We endured 8 years of a finger-in-the-wind politician in the 1990s, the last thing we need now is another one; especially as our nation continues the fight against Islamic extremists dead-set on the destruction of our way of life. John McCain is a leader of principled consistency, the kind of leader our country calls for today.

Surrender is NOT an Option!

April 30th, 2007 · No Comments

John McCain today delivered this statement following the President’s veto of the Iraq spending bill:

“Today, with his veto, President Bush sent a clear message to our enemies - America will not surrender to al Qaeda in Iraq. My Congressional colleagues should set aside partisan politics and give General Petraeus and our men and women in battle the resources they need to win.”

Senator McCain has been steadfast in his support for the new strategy in Iraq. If you haven’t already done so, please sign the “Surrender is Not an Option” petition and encourage your friends and family to do so as well. We cannot surrender this fight against evil.

Tuesday Night Massacre - Federal Impact

November 8th, 2006 · No Comments

Ouch.  That’s all that can really be said about last night’s election results.  To be honest I have seen it coming for a while now because of the debacle that is Bush’s 2nd term.  I have supported him for a long time, but take note as of today he has screwed this country.  His first [...]

What’s St. McCain’s Iraq war plan again?

October 20th, 2006 · No Comments

People are for the war, but as the audience points out–refuse to fight in it. Glenn Greenwald wonders what the heck McCain is talking about. So do I.
McCain complained that Matthews' line of questioning meant that his "bias is starting to show." Apparently, if one demonstrates that McCain's Plan for Victory is based on absurd [...]
